Session 1: Arrival

Skyship

As the skyship soared through the morning sky, gaining altitude, the gray stain of fog that marked the boundary of the Mournlands diminished from view over the horizon. For many of the passengers on the ship, this marked one of many exotic vistas they would see as they traversed Khorvaire on whatever urgent errand or task that required sailing the sky. Some, seeing the Mournlands for the first time, could not help but stare in abject horror, knowing that they gazed upon the aftermath of a cataclysm. Others, numb to the shock after flying past more than once, muttered suspicions and conspiracy theories to one another. A small handful, having spent years exploring the mysteries of that pit of despair, breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that the airship carries them to something better. Perhaps they even allow themselves a glimmer of hope that they might be flying towards some answers.

Session 2: The Cave

As the battle-weary travelers descended further into the darkness of the cave, they could quickly sense it getting warmer. Nimh, still breathing hard and limping from their near-death conflict with the chief of the ragtag kobolds, abruptly stopped with a raised hand. Cairn, Blackwood and Yannin halted immediately and looked to their scout for guidance. As their eyes adjusted, they could tell that there was a faint blue light coming from down the corridor. Nimh edged forward and finally peered around the corner only to find a room brightly lit by a pool of eerily blue magma. In the center of the room was a tall pedestal crudely hewn from stone. Atop the pedestal shined a brilliant gemstone. The stone itself was lit by the blue light as well and cast dancing shapes on the walls as the pool of magma roiled and churned. In hushed silence, the four weary adventurers approached for a closer look. They looked to each other, faces pale in strange glow of the magma. Cairn shrugged. Blackwood looked concerned. Nimh kept glancing at the entrance to the chamber Somehow, Yannin’s ocular lenses appeared twice their normal size as he gazed at the gem, mouth gaping. He began slowly walking toward the gem, irresistibly drawn to its mystery. Before he took his first step, his new friends had already turned and ran for the door…

Session 3: From Hag to Nordrock

From Hag to Nordrock

Picking up after Yannin takes the lava gem, we proceed to the entrance to the cave. We discover an elf monk examining tracks leading to the cave entrance and destroyed wagons.

His name is Arloaen. He was sent from Llewelys to investigate monsters that have been appearing in their area. He followed the tracks here. We share information regarding the paintings, monsters and battles we have fought here. This answers some of his questions and he asks to join our effort.

We decide to create a rues for Beatrice. We setup a site between the cave and Gravesham. Then, we send Arloaen to Gravesham to find Beatrice. He will tell her that he found a trove of paintings by who-be-artist. He came to ask her advice.

The rest of the group takes an extended rest. Yannin remains still but alert, Nimh only needs rests for four hours. Early in the morning, Cairn suddenly runs away into the forest. None of us are apparently able to follow him.
